The day was good today with the bright morning sunlight unlike the previous day which had rains and was foggy. The nature of the day was very promising to everyone to have a successful and good day. Unfortunately, the day was not good to everyone as some experienced some big challenges like losses in business, getting sick and etc. But the story here is about Chimwemwe who met her fate today despite the day had some characteristics of good experience.
The child here is a baby girl suggested to be between two or three months old. She was, without remorse, abandoned by her parents in the broad day light within the city of Mzuzu. This bad act happened today 3 December, 2012 around 11 am when the parents of the child met in the city to discuss about the welfare of the child. Some people close to them overheard the woman accusing the father for not supporting the child for some months which is a burden to her. She was also accusing him for not visiting her to where she lives and because of this, she was tired of caring for someone’s child due to lack of support from the responsible man. People close to them never thought that the discussion of the two would reach to a bad extent.
After some minutes, people close to them were surprised to see the woman surrendering the child to the father and he, the father, was refusing to take the child. To people’s dismay, they discovered that the two people had left the child down while they varnished. They tried to search for them but to no avail. They just took a well dressed baby girl to the Mzuzu District Social Welfare Office for action that would safeguard the precious life of the baby.
The DSWO called Mzuzu Crisis Nursery to assist the hopeless child with temporary shelter. The pretty little girl is now at the Crisis Nursery enjoying the love she deserves. She is well placed in her well made crib feeling the comfort of the place. It is a pleasing thing that she was discovered unhurt. The cute girl had done nothing wrong against the two and yet they decided to abandon her and ran away. They thought, parents, the child would suffer but God said, “my child I am with you and don’t be afraid.” The light of God was shone upon her face which restored her hope. She is safe and well cared for but her parents will one day stand before Jesus to give an account of what they did to me. The foster parent would be very soon identified to care for her with intent to adopt. Thank you Jesus for preserving the life of this little precious girl.
